All the documents are written by Kenichi Yamamoto.

"I will let you work on only rotary engine from now on. I want you to go NSU company in the West Germany and look hard."

Kouji Matsuda who was the president and who passed away said to me.
At that time I was a vice director of the design section. It was August 1962.

I felt complicated feeling for a moment because my name was on the rotary engine development organization, and I was almost taking a role of observer and I knew the disadvantages of it, which are the like a crazy horse vibration at low revolution although high speed power's greatness was acknowledged, and you couldn't say it has durability after seeing it got scratches all over inside of housing by charter mark.

From that moment I prepared this would be my life work and I started to get into the development of the rotary engine for more than 10 years.
Although I remember very well the feeling I had when I stepped into the unknown world based on faith and pride of an engineer and I was suffering and let down because it was a challenge of the unknown but I don't know how to put that in the words.

There are many excellent engineers around me. They sometimes agree with me and sometimes disagree with me. They tried to find the way. I think they were totally crazy about the rotary engine which was their object to work on. I think that is why they could dig into the development of the engine which was criticized by the common people in the engineering industry that is impossible to make it for practical use.

I was helped by many young engineer's great idea and ardor. There was a dream.
There was a dream which was to make true by their own hands. The dream was almost the engineers' obsession.

That was a drama, I think so now.
That was a drama of the human who conquered the suffer and tried to achieve the way to live. There wouldn't be any completion if there were no such people who has spirits and were so into it.

I can't forget those days when I had reason for living every day and seeking what is worth for myself.
I think this is a truly the spirits of an engineer and the bottom line of creation.
