IMSA-GT series which fought for 15 times in a year
was the race grew up quickly around the late of the '70s.

MAZDA started to join this series with brand new RX-7 in 1979.
RX-7 that expended the share (at that time under 2.5 litters, this time under 3.0)
in GTU class got wonderful 1-2 finish in Daytona 24 hours.

When RX-7 became series champion, it continued to win,
and it made a record that is 7 years champion in a row until '86.

Meanwhile, it got GTO class champion ('84).

These days, New RX-7's numbers are increasing,
and it is impossible to imagine without the rotary in IMSA-GT series
that developed in a good way.
